Updating Your Profile
Soon after you have logged in for the first time, please fill in your Profile, as explained below. If you have a digital photo, please also post it to your profile. If you post your photo to your profile, your face will appear by your assignment entries. It will make your postings more personal and is very simple to do.
How to Post Your Profile
You only have to do this once. All you need is a digital photo file already filed somewhere on your own computer.
Here's how you can add information to your profile and post your photo:
1. In the top right corner of the webpage you find your "name". Click on your name and this will reveal a sub menu of options.
2. Click on "Profile", then "Edit Profile" and this will take you to a page where you can enter your personal information and set your communications options.
3. Please copy and paste your personal introduction into the description box below the "General" category.
4. Below the "General" catagroy, click on the category that says “User picture”. The easiest is to 'drag-and-drop' your photo.jpg in the box (200x200 pixels is big enough). One way to easily resize a photo is to incert it into an email that will resize it, and email it to yourself) Click on the "Update profile" to save changes.
5. Or you can click on the box and a small window opens. Click on "upload a file" and then "browse" to look in your own computer files to find your photo file. Click on the file you want to use, highlight it, then click on " Open". Finally click on "Upload this file".
6. At the bottom of the page, click "Update profile". If it returns to ask you to fill in Description, type in anything you like - 'student' will do! Then again click Update Profile. That's it! When you next go to the student responses, your photo should appear by your own entries.
Take a "Walk into the Classroom"
After you have posted your profile, take a "walk into the classroom" and see who your classmates are. To enter the classroom, click on the Participants link in the left hand menu of the main course page. The more people who have posted their profiles, the more fun this will be! So please be sure to create your profile soon, and add a photo if you can. Visit the classroom right after you post your profile so you can check that your profile is shown the way you want it to be. Then come back to this later in the week when hopefully everyone will have updated their profile so you can meet the other participants.
